Premiere Country Club in Fort Worth Upgrades Communications
A private, historic golf club in Fort Worth, TX is open year round and hosts part of the PGA Tour. The club serves athletes, visitors to DFW and the local golfing community. Communication is critical on the large course, in the clubhouse and within the organization. During the tour and official tournaments, thousands would descend on the course, requiring stringent uptime at all hours.
The club needed to upgrade a legacy phone system and decided on c2mtech, a company with a history supporting DFW businesses with voice, data and cloud solutions.
Challenges in Existing Infrastructure
The “19th hole” is slang in golf for the clubhouse, bar and restaurant. This course’s 19th hole and overall organization were using an outdated AVAYA analog phone system. Decades ago when the phone system was installed, it was the only option for voice communication with limited functionality and features. The clubhouse building was historic and finished areas prevented cabling upgrades for the entire organization.
c2mtech’s expertise designing phone systems in existing buildings helped transition the clubhouse to modern communication. Our partner, Mitel was chosen for an ability to handle digital, analog and IP connections.
Analog to VoIP Upgrade
Digital and IP phones from Mitel replaced the bulk of keysets required by the team of 50 employees. VoIP provided an affordable option for some parts of the country club. Digital phone systems offered more features for staff, while maintaining reliability during peak demand.
Due to the building’s age, cabling could only be upgraded in some areas. A hybrid phone system relied on SIP Trunking, onsite IP servers and analog connections to power 85 phones which included:
- 50 VoIP phones were upgraded and installed
- 20 cordless VoIP phones improved mobility of staff while on the course
- 14 digital phones were connected to an upgraded telecom closet.
- 1 Conference room was retrofitted for news and sponsor presentations.
As a result of the upgrade, restaurant and bar staff were better equipped to handle reservations and administration was better equipped to handle logistics and sponsorships.
